Despite the offensive inconsistencies, the poor defense, suspect baserunning, and a manager making questionable decisions, according to Fangraphs, the White Sox still have a 43% change of getting into the playoffs.

There are still projections that have the White Sox winning anywhere from 84 games to 88 games. With expanded playoffs, 84 wins might be good enough for a Wild Card spot. The Twins and Guardians still not running away with the division 88 victories might be enough to win the AL Central. The Sox need to win 55 games the rest of the season to reach 90 victories.

The Chicago White Sox playoff hopes will be made or broken in July.

While baseball is a marathon and not a sprint, the July portion of the schedule sets up for the White Sox to start stacking up some wins to get back into the division race.

The Chicago White Sox play 19 of their 27 games in July against the Twins, Guardians, and Detroit Tigers. 11 of those games will take place at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Sox also have three-game road series against the struggling Colorado Rockies and a three-game homestand against the Oakland A’s.

The White Sox do kick off July with a three-game set at San Francisco. Outside of the Twins and the Guardians, the Giants are the only over .500 team the Chicago White Sox will face.

The Sox are currently 14-15 against the AL Central. So while they get the head-to-head matchups with the Twins and the Guardians, the Southsiders will have to take advantage and win a bulk of those games to make up the ground they lost to start the season.
