Andre Drummond could lead to a Kevin Durant trade for Bulls
The Chicago Bulls, for a lot of the 2021-22 season, were one of the best teams in the NBA. With studs like Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic, Alex Caruso, Cobe White, and Ayo Dosunmu amongst others, they had an incredible year after a lot of building up to that roster.
However, in the second half of the season, they fell off a cliff a little bit. They still made it to the postseason but they had no chance against the defending NBA Champions in the Milwaukee Bucks as they lost to them in five.
Now, they are out there doing what they can to improve on the steps that they took in 2021-22. They saw what the flaws were down the stretch and now it is time to address them during the offseason. Free agency is open.
Andre Drummond signed as a free agent with Chicago on Thursday. Drummond played most of his career with the Detroit Pistons before making short stops with the Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers.
This is a guy that has been a two-time NBA All-Star, a four-time leader in rebounds, and a one-time All-NBA selection. He also has the third most double-doubles in a single season in addition to the most rebounds over the last 10 seasons.
All of his skills are going to fit in perfectly with this Bulls team as the stuff he brings is desperately needed. What he does on his own is going to make them a much better and more well-rounded basketball team.
It would be amazing to see Kevin Durant put on a Chicago Bulls uniform.
There is another interesting layer to this signing. It could have nothing to do with it but his last season was the previously mentioned cup of coffee he had with the Brooklyn Nets. He was teammates with Kevin Durant who requested a trade out of there on Thursday.
Now, Durant is one of the very best players who ever put on a uniform. All 30 teams want to have him on their team as he can make them a champion within one season if the right pieces are around him. You’d think that the Bulls would be in a great spot with their roster if they landed him.
You never know if signing someone that was comfortable with Durant as recently as a year ago is a good way to make him approve a trade to the Bulls but you just never know. Obviously, it is a long shot for any team to think that they are getting him but anything is possible.
Acquiring him in a trade would be the coolest thing to happen to the Bulls in a long time. Regardless of this possibility, adding a player like Drummond automatically makes them a much better team which is a plus right there.
