If Rudy Gobert is out of the picture, the Chicago Bulls could opt for John Collins

If the Gobert deal falls through, the Bulls do have other options to improve. One of the many rumors floating around is that Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins will be traded. The likelihood of a deal happening is more than ever before, according to insider Marc Stein. Another rumor had the Bulls as a team that was in on Collins.

It makes sense for the Bulls to go get a player like Collins, as he’s another scoring threat to pair with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. The money might have to be worked out a little bit, but this is a deal that could end up working out for the Bulls.

The Bulls might end up having to move another player to free up additional cash, but this is a starting point to try and get Collins. The big chip in this deal is obviously third-year pro Patrick Williams, who effectively takes the place of Collins in Atlanta. The Bulls would prefer not to trade Williams in any deal, but they’re also a team that could be ready to win right now.

Collins is a very good player right now. That’s why it makes sense. Williams has loads of potential, but if the Bulls can get a proven guy in Collins right now, then they’ll be that much closer to contending in the near future.

Keep in mind, DeRozan is not getting any younger, and neither is Nikola Vucevic. Do the Bulls really want to try and wait on Williams to develop and turn into a star, or would they prefer to find a proven, young star immediately? That’s the question that must be asked.
