Trade Number 2: The Chicago Bulls up the ante by adding in a premier player to land John Collins

This is where things start to get interesting. The Bulls are rumored to be uninterested in moving third-year forward Patrick Williams in any trade at the moment. However, if they are truly in on getting a player of Gobert or Collins’ caliber, then Williams might have to be involved.

For a year and a half, Williams has flashed a ton of potential to become an elite defensive player and a solid scorer on the other end. A lengthy wrist injury made it tough on him as a sophomore, but late in the season Williams definitely showed a little bit of what made him the no. 4 overall pick two years ago.

Also in this deal, the Hawks would once again get Brown in a sign-and-trade. White and the 18th pick are once again involved in this trade, too.

But, make no mistake. The big chip here is Williams, who effectively takes the place of Collins and on a much cheaper contract. Williams absolutely has the potential to become a similar player to Collins, except a far superior defender. He’s going to take a little more time, though, and the Bulls are getting instant gratification by trading for Collins.

This is a tough pill to swallow for Bulls fans, losing Williams, but in the end they get a serious threat on the offensive end and don’t have to give up a piece like Caruso.
