The Chicago Bears had some really good years with Khalil Mack on their defense.

Khalil Mack was one of the best defensive players in the league for most of his tenure with the Chicago Bears. There was even a year or two where you would put him right there with Aaron Donald for the best overall defensive player in the league.

Now, Mack and Donald will both play in the city of Los Angeles as the Bears traded Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers. This came as a surprise to a lot of people but it was something that needed to be done at this point.

Mack was one of the most talented defensive players that the Bears have ever had. It is unfortunate that the rest of the team was not able to be put around him for them to take advantage.

The defense was always really good but the risk of trading for him failed because the quarterback didn’t work out. If Mitchell Trubisky developed into a franchise quarterback as they expected when they used the second overall pick on him, the Mack trade would have worked.

It is unfortunate but the Bears get cap space, and assets, and to see Mack go play for a contender. It was necessary to see him go although it is a fine example of things going wrong for this franchise.
