Jake McCabe would make a great trade asset for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Jake McCabe is a very good NHL defenseman. He is just someone that won’t be around to help the Hawks when they are finally good again. That is why they should move on from him now and get something nice for him in return.

For a depth defenseman on a team that was just horrible defensively last year, McCabe had a pretty good year offensively. He score four goals and added 18 assists for 22 points. That isn’t bad at all for a guy who gets no power-play ice. All 22 of his points came at even strength.

He is 28 years old and has three more years on his contract worth 4.0 million annually. A team might give something up to add this guy to their roster. He has proven that he can be valuable in certain situations and would make a perfect fifth or sixth defenseman on a really good team.

If the Blackhawks are offered something nice for him, they are going to jump on it. With him being 28, he won’t be under 30 by the time the Blackhawks are contenders again. Getting some good assets for him now is the key for Kyle Davidson.
