Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles not addressing offensive line with a splash is a questionable strategy

Other than wide receiver, the biggest weakness for the Bears is still up front on the offensive line. As it stands, the Bears project to start Teven Jenkins and Larry Borom at tackle, but there are plenty of others who could compete with Borom for his spot.

Inside, the Bears are projected to start Lucas Patrick at center, with Cody Whitehair and Sam Mustipher playing guard. As it is with Borom, there will be competition for Mustipher.

Although Poles took a handful offensive linemen in Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft, he still failed to address this area with a big move. The Bears do not have a fortified Pro Bowl type of talent on the line, and it might be a little while before they do.

Patrick was one of the better pass-blocking centers last season, but did not play the entire year. Whitehair is a former Pro Bowl selection, but that seems like ages ago.

Poles could have gone out and signed a much bigger name, a more solidified veteran or even drafted an offensive lineman higher up in the draft. But, here we are, and the Bears’ offensive line is still shaky at best. Until proven otherwise, Poles’ lack of attention to the offensive line warrants plenty of worry.
