Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles not trading Robert Quinn prior to the 2022 NFL Draft was a questionable move

If the Bears were going to go full-on rebuild, then after trading Khalil Mack, Poles should have done what he could to deal Robert Quinn. Mack netted the Bears a bit less than what some would have assumed, with them getting back a second and sixth rounder.

But, it was Quinn who came off a franchise record-setting season with 18.5 sacks last year. If the Bears could have gotten a single second-round pick, they would have been able to draft yet another young difference-maker.

Let’s say the Bears got a pick between 55-75 in exchange for Quinn. Within that range, the Bears could have selected players such as: Central Michigan offensive lineman Luke Goedeke, Kentucky offensive lineman Luke Fortner, Oklahoma linebacker Brian Asamoah or Washington State offensive lineman Abraham Lucas.

For a guy who won’t be with the team past this season, and even is rumored to want out of Chicago, any of those above players would have been incredible values for the Bears in return. Now, they hope Quinn is motivated and becomes a coveted trade asset this coming season.
