Trade Number 3: The Chicago Bulls send a pair of picks in a deal to land Rudy Gobert

Because Gobert is already known to be available and will be traded this offseason, it is tough to imagine the Bulls having to go an extra mile, here. But, if Chicago really had to step up their offer, it would be pretty simple.

In this instance, the Bulls trade Vucevic and a pair of first-round picks in exchange for Gobert. The Bulls will now be without the majority of their firsts in the next few drafts, still awaiting that protected pick from Portland. But, acquiring Gobert proves they’re wanting to play a tougher brand of basketball.

Vucevic’s defense is a liability, and everyone knows it. Occasionally, he’s good for a perfectly-timed block and pulls down 12 boards per game. But, Gobert gives the Bulls an extra gear defensively. Now, they have someone who is physical enough to go toe to toe with a guy like Giannis in the paint.

With DeRozan and LaVine truly manning the offense and not moving it through Vucevic on the perimeter, and Gobert’s presence in the middle, the Bulls become more well-rounded and this deal becomes a  legitimate positive.
