4 free agents the Chicago Bears could sign before mandatory minicamp

The Chicago Bears could sign offensive lineman JC Tretter
One area the Bears could find another immediate starter is on the interior offensive line. With Lucas Patrick starting at center and Cody Whitehair at guard, the Bears still have one more spot up for grabs.
Now, Chicago did draft three interior linemen in the later rounds to compete with the likes of veterans Sam Mustipher and Dakota Dozier. But, an instant upgrade at that position would be if the Bears signed JC Tretter, who can play both center and guard.
The former Green Bay Packer and, more recently, Cleveland Brown, Tretter is maybe the best free agent interior lineman still available. He has always been a guy who will do his job and is not typically the reason a play gets blown up. He’s steady — and the Bears need “steady” in front of a young quarterback.
Last year, Mustipher was anything but steady and it’s a shock he’s still with the Bears. If he ends up being the best option at guard, the Bears are in trouble. Tretter would give them stability and experience right off the bat, allowing Fields to be much more comfortable.
