Trade Number 1: The Chicago Bulls get Spencer Dinwiddie back for Zach LaVine

There is not really an ideal trade package to receive back for LaVine, but for the sake of all the rumors, Bulls fans should get used to the idea of something like this.

A few years back, the Bulls had Spencer Dinwiddie and he played for the Windy City Bulls, averaging over 19.0 points and over 8.0 assists per game. After Chicago let him go, Bulls fans were actually quite upset when he broke out with the Brooklyn Nets. Now, in this scenario, Dinwiddie returns to Chicago in exchange for LaVine.

Last season was somewhat of a down year for Dinwiddie, who broke out during the 2019-2020 campaign by averaging 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game. Over this past season, Dinwiddie averaged 15.8 points and 3.9 assists per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field.

Dinwiddie wouldn’t necessarily replace LaVine altogether, but getting him back in exchange for the All Star is a good start. The Bulls would also get a first-round pick back, which will help add an asset down the line.

The only other positive from a deal like this is that the Bulls do save a bit of money, as Dinwiddie’s $18 million is going to end up being far less than what LaVine will make going forward.
