In order to trade Patrick Kane, these two teams might need to get more creative.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs might need to get even more creative than that in order to get a deal like this done. It would be very complicated as each team would assume a lot of risk with a deal like this.

One team wants to rebuild and one team desperately wants to win the Stanley Cup in 2023 and not a second later. The Leafs might make a bad overpayment in order to get it done in any way that they can. Landing someone like Patrick Kane could really help that cause.

TJ Brodie and William Nylander would combine salary cap hits to make room for Kane. They would also each provide great players for the Blackhawks to use in the present day. This trade would also land them a first and seventh-round pick in addition to Timothy Liljegren.

Liljegren was drafted by the Leafs in the first round at the United Center when the draft was held there in 2017. He is a very good player that could be a part of the future for the Hawks. It would be up to Chicago to use these future assets properly.

The Leafs would be getting that Minnesota second-round pick in addition to Patrick Kane which feels worth it for them. With all of the leadership, experience, and elite play that he brings to the table, it is something for Toronto to consider.

They need help in the playoffs and number 88 certainly knows how to bring it. The NHL would also be a significantly better place with Kane back in the postseason. He still has a lot of great hockey left in him.
