Chicago Bears: 3 possible unexpected contributors in 2022
By Josh De Luca
An overlooked cornerback in a now deep defensive backfield, Young could definitely bring his veteran leadership and playmaking ability and make an impact immediately.
3.) Tavon Young
The Bears have done a great job addressing the previously weak defensive backfield they had in 2021. Tavon Young is one of those additions.
With the Bears selecting two young defensive backs with their first two selections of this year’s draft, Young isn’t going to be counted on as the playmaker in this new secondary.
Young has been productive in the past, however. Having just turned 28 years old, Young has already played in 50 games and started 24 of them. He has missed multiple seasons due to injury, but always seems to be able to be of value the next season.
Aside from veteran Eddie Jackson, Young has been active for the most games in a career. With a lack of experience in the defensive back room, Tavon Young should be able to give the Bears key snaps in defensive back heavy packages.
