Bold predictions for the Chicago Bears top wide receivers in 2022

The Bears’ receiving core is getting a lot of hate, but as we’ve already established, this is going to be a run-heavy team which will then open up the passing game. Last year, Darnell Mooney led the Bears in receiving with 81 catches for 1,055 yards and six touchdowns. Behind him were Allen Robinson and Damiere Byrd as the next two wideouts in terms of production.

If Fields is throwing for 4,000 yards, then someone has to catch the football. Mooney will be the stud, that much is for sure. However, Velus Jones Jr. could emerge as the second option, just inching ahead of Byron Pringle in terms of production. How good could this trio be in 2022?

Predictions for 2022:

Darnell Mooney

103 receptions (6 per game)

160 targets (9.5 per game)

1,339 receiving yards (13.0 per catch)

8 receiving touchdowns

Velus Jones Jr.

56 receptions (3.3 per game)

80 targets (4.7 per game)

784 receiving yards (14.0 per catch)

7 receiving touchdowns

Byron Pringle

54 receptions (3.2 per game)

75 targets (4.4 per game)

621 receiving yards (11.5 per catch)

4 receiving touchdowns

Both Jones and Pringle will have similar totals in terms of receptions, but it will be Jones who provides some of the bigger plays. That results in more yardage and scoring opportunities for the rookie. Nonetheless, Jones and Pringle are both equally involved.
