Bold predictions for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields in 2022

First up, the quarterback position. Let’s look at how Justin Fields would have finished in his rookie season, based on his 10 starts stretched out over a 17-game pace:

3,179 passing yards (187 yards per game)

12 passing touchdowns

17 interceptions

714 rushing yards (42 yards per game)

3 rushing touchdowns

Now, the Bears brought in Luke Getsy to run a more friendly system for Fields, being able to use his strengths. One of Fields’ biggest strengths is how he throws the football outside of the pocket. He is great at throwing the deep ball and can hit receivers on the run pretty well.

Many of his mistakes last year were certainly rookie mistakes and can be corrected. Already, Getsy is helping Fields adjust his footwork in order to get the ball out quicker. If we assume a second-year leap for Fields, let’s see just how good he can be in Year 2.

Predictions for 2022:

4,046 passing yards (238 yards per game)

30 passing touchdowns

15 interceptions

595 rushing yards (35 yards per game)

3 rushing touchdowns

Fields would become the first-ever 4,000-yard passer in Bears history, along with the first-ever quarterback to throw 30 passing touchdowns. The 17th game helps, but this is still a huge franchise milestone.

His rushing yardage actually goes down just a bit based on the fact that the Bears will be utilizing his arm as the priority. But, he’ll still have some big plays with his feet.
