Patrick Kane’s time with the Chicago Blackhawks might be coming to an end.

There is no doubt that Patrick Kane is the greatest and most accomplished player in the history of the Chicago Blackhawks. He is also the greatest American-born player who ever lived. In all honesty, he is one of the greatest NHL players that the league has ever seen.

He is an incredibly gifted offensive player that uses his incredible vision, hands, and awareness to create amazing chances for himself and his teammates. For a long time, he was considered to be a top-three offensive player in the league. Still to this day he is one of the best in the NHL.

Like Toews, he has all of the awards and accolades to go with his incredible point totals. Three Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, a Hart Trophy as regular-season MVP, a scoring title (Art Ross Trophy), and a Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie are all on his mantle.

To say that he has lived up to being the number one overall pick would be an understatement. The Blackhawks have gotten everything they have needed from Kane and more. That is why it is a big decision coming up as he only has one year left on his contract worth 10.5 million.

It might be hard for another team to take on that kind of money but Kane’s production is still elite. He would help any Cup contender reach that next level because of the fact that he is so good and he has more playoff experience than most.

They might be willing to retain salary on him for a year if they move him but that would also earn them more back in the deal because he is still very productive. Moving him would be a significant way to kick off a rebuild the right way.

We have no clue if the Hawks will actually go through with it because of how much he means but it is something to think about. There are also a couple of Blackhawks records that he may be chasing but that isn’t all that important when it comes to business. We will see how they handle this pending rebuild but it might not be pretty.
