Chicago Bears players with the most to prove in 2022: WR Darnell Mooney
Speaking of Bears receivers under pressure, let’s talk about the guy getting absolutely zero credit from the national media. Darnell Mooney notched a 1,000-yard season last year with three different quarterbacks and in maybe the worst offense in the league.
Allen Robinson wasn’t even a factor last season, so for people to say Mooney isn’t a legitimate number one is actually blasphemous. Mooney proved he could be a number one last year. What more would anyone have wanted from him?
Now, after an offseason that saw the Bears keep Mooney as their top receiver, it’s on him to prove they made the right decision. He will have all eyes on him as this rebuilding Bears roster looks to compete in 2022.
One area that really stood out from Mooney’s game last year was his route running. People don’t give him enough credit for getting open, but that’s one of the best aspects of Mooney’s talent. If he’s open, Fields will get him the football. Then, everybody can watch as he makes defenses pay.
Mooney is a talented wide receiver, but he will need to prove it even more so in the coming season. This Bears offense, as a whole, has a lot to prove. And Mooney is one of the key cogs in this group set out to prove everyone wrong.
