5 Chicago Bears players with the most to prove this year

Chicago Bears players with the most to prove in 2022: WR Velus Jones Jr.
It is extremely unfair to put so much pressure on a third-round rookie wide receiver, but that’s exactly where Velus Jones Jr. finds himself. He is the guy the Bears took “too early” and after passing up on “better options” in the second round.
Jones is not who Bears fans originally thought the team would go after, and definitely wasn’t drafted where some projected him to go. But, Poles wanted him and knew he’d have been drafted in the fourth round. So, he took his shot.
Jones could wind up being the second option in terms of wide receiver targets, even over Byron Pringle. In fact, if Jones was second in targets amongst receivers, that would be a huge win for the Bears.
We are looking at a guy that some are calling too old and wondering why the Bears would draft him in the first place. Most of the criticisms fail to look at the positive Jones can bring, but that’s exactly what he’s going to have to remind them. If Jones can have a great summer and come in and provide some electricity within this offense, he’ll quiet the mouths of critics everywhere.
