The Chicago Bears need to worry about protecting Justin Fields in 2022.

The Bears have struggled to protect their young quarterback Justin Fields. One of the main goals for this coming season is to see if Fields is going to be the Bears’ quarterback of the future. Without giving him time to go through his reads and make throws, it’s almost impossible to judge his talent.

You can never have too many good offensive linemen. Ideally, you need five of them to be on the field at all times. It’s also very rare for a team to go through a grueling 17-game season without having any of the week one starters miss time due to injury or lack of production. This is where Ereck Flowers comes in.

Flowers is a former first-round draft choice by the New York Giants in 2015. Although he hasn’t quite lived up to the first-round hype, Flowers has started over 100 games for 4 different teams. That type of experience is what is lacking in the Bears’ offensive line room.

Aside from guard Cody Whitehair, newly acquired Lucas Patrick leads the line in games started with 34. Even if the Bears bring Flowers in, there is no guarantee he will be a day one starter for the team but regardless, he would be a cheap and experienced option that could mentor all of the team’s young talent.
