Colton Dach might be someone for the Chicago Blackhawks to consider trading.

If a team really wanted to take a chance on one year of Patrick Kane, they might accept Colton Dach in order t take all of the money. He was taken in the second round (62nd overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft. He is a highly skilled centerman that was drafted that high for a reason.

He is also the younger brother of former third overall pick Kirby Dach. Kirby is a good NHL player but he hasn’t lived up to his draft status just yet. As of right now, there is a concern with that but he is still incredibly young. If they keep his brother, he might stay motivated but business is business.

Dach has a high ceiling but it is no lock that he ever is even as good as his brother. It is going to take a long time before any of us know that truth but he is certainly going to get his chance to be a National Hockey League player.

Dach started his junior career with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. In his first season, he scored 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 62 games. His second season (2020-21) is where he started to look great as he had 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points in 20 games.

Being a point per game player in this league is nice but the future NHL players always exceed that threshold by a lot. He was traded from the Blades to the Kelowna Rockets ahead of the 2021-22 season. With the Rockets, he scored 29 goals and had 50 assists for 79 points in 61 games.

That is certainly the production of a player that a team would want if they are helping you shed some salary. If not, however, he is a player that can develop into something really nice for the Blackhawks.
