Following their early playoff exit, the Chicago Bulls entered the 2022 NBA offseason far earlier than they planned to. Going from atop the Eastern Conference to a first-round boot wasn’t the ideal scenario, but it’s the reality they have to live with.

In the playoffs, the Bulls were still without starting point guard Lonzo Ball and Billy Donovan actually went with Alex Caruso as his starter. Off the bench, Donovan didn’t play rookie Ayo Dosunmu too much but he did go with veteran Coby White for much of the series.

In that series against the Milwaukee Bucks, White was bad — real bad. However, one could make the argument that this past year was a huge challenge for White, who saw his minutes get cut into by a rookie.

This summer, a change of scenery might be what’s best for both White and the Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls should try to trade Coby White before the 2022 NBA Draft.

Going into next season, the Bulls will be more than fine with Ball as their starter and Dosunmu the primary backup. Finding another veteran or rookie to fill White’s spot makes sense, as White could still go elsewhere and flourish.

Although White struggled mightily in the postseason, this year likely didn’t pan out how he had envisioned. Seeing the rise of Dosunmu had to take a toll on White, who was a former lottery pick.

Dosunmu’s defense is something the Bulls can’t afford to take off the court going forward, either. White is in a tough spot.

Before the 2022 NBA Draft, Chicago would do themselves a favor if they could find a trade partner and net something in return. The following three trades could make sense for both sides as draft season approaches.
