The Chicago Bears could sign free agent offensive lineman Quinton Spain

One of the most shocking free agents still available is former Cincinnati Bengals starting right guard Quinton Spain. The 30-year-old former West Virginia standout played some of his best football last year during the most important stretch of the season.

Spain started all 16 games last year for the Bengals, and saved his best for the postseason. Of course, the Bengals went all the way to the Super Bowl before finally losing to the Los Angeles Rams, and Cincinnati’s biggest knock after the season came up front.

However, during the playoffs, Spain was not one of the reasons why Cincy was worried about quarterback Joe Burrow. All throughout the playoffs, Spain did not allow a single quarterback hit on Burrow — none.

Spain also only allowed two pressures on Burrow throughout the entire playoffs. To put his performance in perspective, Spain earned a pass block efficiency rate of 98.2 percent via Pro Football Focus.

Chicago very well could end up needing another starting guard, should the group of rookies need some time to develop. What better option could there be than a guy who played his best football on the biggest stage just last year?
