3 active Chicago Bears players made better by 2022 NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears might be able to claim Roquan Smith as their best player.
The Chicago Bears don’t have the defense that they did back in 2018 when they had the best in the National Football League. That was, in all honesty, one of the three or four best defenses in the history of the franchise.
They are not the same anymore as they have had some turnover and players get over but one player to be extremely excited about is Roquan Smith. He is not one of the best players on the team and you can even make the claim that he is the number one guy.
Chicago helped Roquan Smith a lot in the 2022 NFL Draft. They made 11 picks in the entire draft and only four of them were defensive players but the top two players taken by Ryan Poles were defensive players.
They really shored up the defensive secondary by adding Kyler Gordon (CB) and Jaquan Brisker (S). These two players are extremely talented and will be a big part of Chicago’s defense soon enough. That will really help out Roquan Smith as he looks to take another step into superstardom.
Those aren’t the only two players taken by Chicago on the defense either, as mentioned before. They took Dominique Robinson who is a defensive lineman along with safety Elijah Hicks later on in the draft. The more players with a chance t develop, the better their chances of being successful as a squad.
If the defensive secondary is that much of a threat one day with these guys, it will make Roquan Smith’s job as a linebacker easier. It will also make the defense look a lot better which will obviously benefit him as well.
