5 veteran free agents the Chicago Bears must sign after the draft

The Chicago Bears should sign free agent tackle Eric Fisher
The Bears absolutely loaded up on rookie offensive linemen on Day 3 of the draft, but none of those guys are guaranteed to come in and start. The highest-drafted of them was Braxton Jones, a tackle out of Southern Utah. While Jones definitely has a lot to like, and could compete with Larry Borom to become a starter, the Bears may be able to use a veteran starter for just a year.
Getting an experienced, 2-time Pro Bowl left tackle like Eric Fisher would help the cause of protecting Justin Fields. Fisher would also be a phenomenal resource for these younger guys to lean on during their development.
Outside of missing 8 games back in 2019, Fisher has also been as consistently healthy as it gets. He’s only 31 years old and might easily still have a few good years of football left in him. Also, he is someone connected with Poles from their days together in Kansas City — like the aforementioned Hitchens, too.
With the Bears’ offensive line room having much more depth than it did just days ago, fans should feel better. Still, there’s a feeling that the Bears could use one more veteran. Fisher would be a great choice.
