Grading each Chicago Bears NFC North rival’s first round draft picks
Green Bay Packers: C-
The Chicago Bears have a few more years of being worse than the Green Bay Packers.
Name something more likely than the Green Bay Packers refusing to help out Aaron Rodgers on offense through the first round of the NFL Draft. The only offensive skill position that they have drafted since taking him has been Jordan Love who was projected to take his spot. Luckily for Aaron, Love isn’t good.
They continued that trend on Thursday night, however, as they didn’t take a single weapon for Rodgers. They had two picks this time around too and just refused to do it. They took two defensive players instead.
The reason they had the additional first-round pick is because of the fact that they traded his best weapon available to him in Devante Adams. You’d think that they try to replace him with one of the better options available to them.
Now, the picks that they did make were solid if you ignore the need for some weaponry. With pick 22, they selected Quay walker from Georgia. He is a very good linebacker that is going to make an impact on Green Bay’s defense for a long time.
The second pick was Devonte Wyatt from Georgia. They were responsible for taking two of the five players that Georgia’s defense produced for the first round this year. He has some character flaws but if he plays the right way, he will be a great player for them.
Drafting two teammates had to be cool for the Packers and for the players themselves. The Bears are going t be seeing those guys a lot going forward. Justin Fields left Georgia for Ohio State so we will see if he can navigate through some of these guys to score some points. The grade can’t be higher because of the weapons thing but it can’t be lower because they are getting good players.
Going forward, the Bears will be making some picks now. They have two selections (as of now) to be excited about on Friday. Hopefully, they are able to positively impact their organization and give it a good chance to succeed in the not-so-distant future.
