Top 2022 NFL Draft options for the Chicago Bears in Round 2

2. G/C Tyler Linderbaum

Now, we’ve come to one of two guys currently falling out of the first round in recent mocks. Iowa’s Tyler Linderbaum is by far the best center prospect in this class, and can play both interior positions. First of all, his versatility would allow Linderbaum to play guard if Lucas Patrick is cemented as the team’s starter.

Beyond his versatility, Linderbaum has just about everything you want to see in a pro interior lineman. The biggest reason he’s falling is his lack of length, because he is just 6-foot-2. However, Linderbaum handles guys way bigger than he is — and he does it with ease.

Linderbaum is a former wrestler and that shows up on tape. He is an aggressor in the trenches and looks to finish his opposing man. The physical nature of his game is apparent and easy to fall in love with, but he is also a technical player.

His hand, hip and feet movement are fluid and work in sync with one another. He packs a punch off the line and can also get to the second level pretty quickly, too.

There is truly nothing not to like about Linderbaum other than the knock on his length, and he’s proven that it doesn’t matter to this point. If he’s there at 39, Linderbaum is a no-brainer.
