The Chicago Bears could target David Bell by trading back
Another receiver the Bears could target in the late third or fourth round is Purdue standout David Bell. Over the past couple of months, Bell has gone from being viewed as a second-round pick by some, to now a third or fourth rounder.
The one thing about Bell that you have to understand is that Purdue manufactured touches for him. At times, he was their offense — the whole thing. He is talented with the ball in his hands and has the potential to be a great yards-after-catch guy as a pro. But, more than anything, he was a guy who you could count on to make the catch.
At the Combine, Bell ran an abysmal 4.65 in his 40-yard dash which is another reason his stock plummeted. However, as many before him have proved, that 40 time isn’t the end-all, be-all.
Bell is great with the fundamentals. He is extremely smooth and gets open with ease. His routes are crisp and he understands how to defeat man coverage. All in all, that’s more than you could ask for out of a third or fourth-round pick. Bell would make Fields better, giving him someone who gets open with consistency.
Last year, Bell caught 93 passes for 1,286 yards and six scores.
