3 SEC players for Chicago Bears to target in second round
The Chicago Bears could certainly use more help in their secondary right now.
The Chicago Bears are in a transition right now with their defense. Eddie Goldman, Khalil Mack, and Akiem Hicks are all gone after being mainstays with this team for a long time. There are other players on the squad that are definitely good players but they need help.
The big mean defense that you might remember from 2018 is very much gone. We can only hope that they one day recreate that level of success on the defensive side of the ball. It would just be nice if they could ever have a good offense along with one of those defenses.
Well, as you know by now, the SEC is a fantastic place to look for defensive players these days. Roger McCreary out of Auburn is someone for them to consider in the second round if defense is the route they want to go with one of those two picks.
McCreary is a risk for a variety of reasons. He will be shorter than most of the receivers that he goes up against. He isn’t going to wow anyone with playmaking ability back there but he can make it very difficult for a wide receiver to make a catch.
He needs to avoid extreme separation because he can’t make up for it with size or speed but he can be difficult to play against because of his disruptiveness. There is a great chance that whoever drafts him is very excited about it one day but it may take time.
