Finally, the Bears go after a wide receiver in the fourth round. It isn’t the ideal spot for the Bears to take a wideout, but let’s look at some recent history with the Bears, here. Just two years ago, the Bears drafted Darnell Mooney in the fifth round and he’s turned into quite the player. It is not impossible to find a productive wide receiver in the fourth round or later.

For some context, Cris Carter, Andre Reed and Steve Largent were all fourth-round picks as well. Now, onto the pick.

The Bears go after SMU wide receiver Danny Gray with this selection, giving Fields yet another speedster who can stretch a defense.

Gray stands six feet tall, weighing 186 pounds and presents average size overall. At the Combine, Gray ran an impressive 4.33 in his 40-yard dash, putting his name up there with some of the fastest guys in this class.

He is a receiver who can work all three levels of the field, despite being such a great deep threat. His long strides are smooth no matter what route he is running, and he’s able to find those softer spots in coverage to settle into for his quarterback.

Last year, Gray caught 49 passes for 803 yards and nine touchdowns for the Mustangs. He became a primary pass-catcher and proved to be a reliable weapon.
