After trading up, the Bears then trade back in the second round to acquire an additional pick. But, after making a deal with the New England Patriots, Poles once more goes offensive line — sticking with that recent rumor. This is where fans might feel a little surprised, and even puzzled.

But, Fields won’t be protecting himself. It will be up to the guys in front of him. If he isn’t kept clean, it doesn’t matter who he’s throwing to — they’re not getting the ball.

So, with this pick, the Bears draft Washington State tackle Abraham Lucas. He’s been often mocked to the Bears here by us, and by way of a lot of fans on social media.

Lucas stands 6-foot-7 and offers tremendous size and length. He is a little lighter, but putting on a bit of weight shouldn’t be a problem. His being lighter also helps him move well for a man his size. Lucas is an athletic tackle who moves well laterally.

Stepping into the starting left tackle role if Teven Jenkins is permanently moved to the right side, Lucas would fit well. His size advantage and mobility will help when protecting Fields’ blind side.
