We are almost there! The 2022 NFL Draft is under a week away which means that all 32 teams are going to come together and select the best prospects in the world to come to play for their franchise. This will be the first draft for the new Chicago Bears GM, Ryan Poles.

During the offseason, the Bears fired both Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy. They were replaced by Poles and new head coach Matt Eberflus. These two are going to put their brains together to try and get the Chicago Bears back on top of the NFC North Division.

In 2021, the Chicago Bears were one of the big stories of the draft. They traded up to select quarterback Justin Fields out of Ohio State University. There were five outstanding first-round quarterbacks and the Bears landed what a lot of people believed was the second-best one.

It is going to be a while to see what becomes of Fields but a lot will have to do with what is put around him. That can be helped along with this draft. Chicago doesn’t have a first-round pick because of the Fields trade (it belongs to the New York Giants) but they can still land some really good players.

The Chicago Bears have to add some good players in the draft for 2022 to be fun.

Based on how the offseason has gone, it is hard to see the Bears being very good in 2022. The goal is clearly to open the competitive window in 2023 but that doesn’t mean that next year will be a waste.

It can be exciting if they bring in players that help them build something larger than one year. If the Bears have a draft like this, they will certainly make the 2022 season a lot more exciting than it looks right now:
