Malachi Carter could provide the Chicago Bears with high late-round value

Lastly, the Bears could find a possible gem with Georgia Tech standout Malachi Carter. The Yellow Jacket product did not have an enormous collegiate career, but showed enough to find himself drafted late in this year’s class.

Carter stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 195 pounds, presenting prototypical size for an outside wide receiver. One of the reasons he’ll fall in this draft is obviously his college production. Carter has never had more than 489 receiving yards or three touchdowns in a season, therefore NFL scouts are likely wondering just how much of a load he can handle.

He also doesn’t possess that breakaway speed that Eberflus likes to see. However, that isn’t a deal-breaker.

What Carter presents as a pro prospect is the ability to run a variety of routes. His route tree is expansive and he runs them in a very clean manner with crisp breaks and cuts. Above anything else as an NFL wideout, the ability to gain separation and get open wins over just about every other trait.

Carter is also willing to go across the middle, make catches in traffic and brace for a hit. He’s not afraid to put his body out there in order to make a grab. In the sixth or seventh round, Carter would be a fine addition for the Bears.
