Jalen Nailor could provide the Chicago Bears with high late-round value
Another wideout the Bears wouldn’t have to spend high draft capital on is Michigan State’s Jalen Nailor. The 5-foot-11 Nailor enters the draft as a guy who has always flashed potential as an exciting playmaker, but injuries have also come into play and remain a question mark.
At the Combine, Nailor ran just a 4.5 in his 40-yard dash, which was disappointing and thus turned his stock in a downward trend. But, the nickname “speedy” didn’t come from thin air. This kid plays fast, and he’s a real example of the Combine not being equal to tape.
Nailor can get behind a defense quickly on the outside and uses great footwork to trick opposing cornerbacks at times. His stop-and-go quickness is one of his best traits, and that’s when he shines the brightest. Nailor knows how to get open.
Here’s the real proof in the pudding: The past two seasons has seen Nailor average 18.8 and 19.8 yards per reception, respectively. He is a big play waiting to happen, regardless of what Combine measurements try and tell you.
Lastly, the little things stand out. Nailor isn’t afraid to step into a block and finish it. He doesn’t take plays off when he’s not the target. Nailor is a high effort player, and if the Bears snag him in on Day 3, fans should be excited.
