Josh Johnson could provide the Chicago Bears with high late-round value

One of the more commonly mocked players to the Bears in the fourth round or later is Tulsa wide receiver Josh Johnson. He’s been one of those guys who feels more like a consolation prize if the Bears decide to spend higher capital on other positions, but he’s still someone to get excited about.

At 5-foot-10 and 176 pounds, Johnson is a little undersized and will spend most of his time in the slot. He’s most comfortable there, and he’s far more effective there than he is outside.

Johnson’s best characteristic is an important one for a young quarterback like Fields: he gets open. Right off the line of scrimmage, Johnson’s quick-twitch athleticism shows up. He knows how to work an opposing defensive back and get himself positioned in front where the quarterback can easily spot him.

He doesn’t have top-notch speed, as he only ran a 4.6, but Johnson wins after the cut with his premier footwork. His hands have been a little questionable at times, but Johnson is overall a winning football player and could become a true value if he’s drafted in the sixth or seventh round.
