Trade Number 3: A second deal to bring Deebo Samuel to the Chicago Bears

Back to Samuel, now. The second type of deal the Bears could try and swing is one involving a stack of picks. The one caveat, though, is the fact that Samuel is not necessarily worth a first-round pick. Sure, the production from last season would scream first-round capital. However, the Bears shouldn’t risk banking a first rounder on just one elite season.

In this deal, the Bears would send San Francisco two picks this year and two in next year’s draft. This year, Chicago sends a second-round pick (their highest at no. 39) and a fifth-round pick (no. 148). Next year, they would send a second and fourth rounder.

In exchange, Chicago gets Samuel and a pick of their own in the sixth round of this year’s draft.

One underrated aspect of this trade is the fact that it gives the Bears back-to-back picks in the sixth round this year. While it’s only the sixth round, this also allows Poles a little extra time during the part of the draft where things get very muddy. It allows him to strategize more as he’ll have the ability to assure himself two players he likes the most, rather than choosing one from his board at that moment.
