Trade Number 1: Deebo Samuel gets dealt to the Chicago Bears

The first thing we have to remember when trading for a receiver like Samuel is the fact that he’s only had one real big year of production. Because of that, the Bears can’t trade the whole farm for him.

Looking at other recent wide receiver trades like that of Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams, teams are trading for guys with a lengthy history of elite production. The Dolphins and Raiders knew that, beyond the shadow of a doubt, Hill and Adams were consistently going to be at the top of the NFL at the wide receiver position. So, just what would a Deebo Samuel trade look like?

In this first trade, the Bears trade their second pick in the second round, essentially making Samuel their selection at no. 48 overall. Think of it this way: Khalil Mack for Deebo Samuel, in essence.

The Bears also trade a second rounder next year, though. Of course, plenty of teams have proved on many occasions that trading future draft capital isn’t the end of the world. Next year’s problems will be addressed next year. If the Bears can get Samuel for a deal like this, then pulling the trigger would be easy.

The biggest win, here, is that the Bears could still end up with a starting offensive lineman at pick number 39, or they could trade that pick to move back a little bit while still drafting a starting lineman and acquiring more capital.
