The Chicago Cubs have been very good to start the season. They picked up a 2-1 series win over the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field over the weekend to open the season before hitting the road where they have one win over the Pittsburgh Pirates so far. The big story in these games has been Seiya Suzuki.

The Cubs won the Suzuki sweepstakes during the offseason as he was a top free agent coming over to play Major League Baseball. There is always a “hit or miss” mentality with these guys but Suzuki has been a major hit so far.

On Sunday, Chicago’s only loss of the season to date, he belted his first career Major League home run. It was a great moment at Wrigley Field when he did it as everyone knows that a lot more of those are coming throughout the season.

It didn’t take long at all, actually, as the second and third home runs of his MLB career/season came on Tuesday against the Pirates after an off-day on Monday. They were each solo shots and the Cubs won the game 2-1 in Pittsburgh. The good pitching combined with his two long balls is the reason that they won.

The Chicago Cubs are hoping that Seiya Suzuki can hit like this all year long.

Seiya Suzuki’s monster start is being noticed which is great for the Cubs. We don’t know how long the winning is going to last but we do know that he is going to maintain his status of being a great baseball player. As of right now, he has to be one of the legit players capable of winning the NL Rookie of the Year.

There are some stats that are just fun and there are others that absolutely blow your mind as a sports fan. There is one stat that Seiya Suzuki has that will excite any level of baseball fan trying to enjoy the game.

He is the only Major League Baseball player to have 8 or more RBIs and 4 or more walks in his first four games since RBI became an official stat in 1920. That is some of the most unbelievable stuff that you will ever hear.

Why is this important? Well, there are a few reasons. The first is that it means that he is driving in runs in bunches. It also means he can get on base via the walk which means he has a higher chance f coming around to score more often. He can literally do it all.

He has a tremendous eye at the plate which allows him to decide whether a baseball is worth laying off or hitting 500 feet. It is a skill that the Cubs will watch him use to his advantage a lot in 2022. This is just under a week into the season too.

Imagine what he can do once he starts to get more comfortable against MLB pitchers. The sky is the limit for this guy as he will do whatever he can to keep this team in the postseason picture all year long.
