Why should the Chicago Bears worry about Christian Watson?

Here we go — it’s the favorite amongst Bears fans, and many other fans looking for a second-round receiver. Just a few months ago, Christian Watson was being mocked mostly in the fourth round as a guy who a team would “take a shot on.”

Now, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver is coming off a Combine where he ran a 4.36 and a ridiculous 136-inch broad jump — and he has everybody talking. Maybe, just maybe, the small school label is for the birds.

Watson presents absolutely everything you would want in an outside receiver who could be a number one guy. But, he comes from a small school and hasn’t faced any real competition in college. Sure, he dominated in college. But, we haven’t seen him up against the elite competition.

One thing Watson has to learn is that he can use his size to bury less physical corners. He has the size to be able to bully defensive backs, especially on those deeper routes that might require a jump ball. Things have looked easy for him in college, and he hasn’t always had to put forth the maximum effort. As a pro, he will have to do so — and he is more than capable. But, we need to see it.
