The Chicago Cubs actually had a really impressive opening series against the Milwaukee Brewers. They were supposed to play four games but Friday’s was canceled due to inclement weather. In going 2-1 over those three games, Seiya Suzuki had an amazing MLB debut weekend.

In the first game, Suzuki reached base three times including his first career MLB hit and two walks. He came around to score his first run as well. In the second game, he added another hit and another walk but this time he had three RBIs in the Cubs’ 9-0 win.

Game three is where things really went crazy for him, however, as he had his first career Major League home run. It was an absolute blast and was gone the second it left his bat. To no surprise, he added another walk in this one as well.

His home run had two men on so it was another three RBIs for him to bring him to six on the season as well. It has been a monumental first weekend for one of the National League Rookie of the Year favorites.

Seiya Suzuki had an amazing debut for the Chicago Cubs over the weekend.

Seiya Suzuki’s first weekend was amazing and it helped his team have a really nice start. We don’t know how they will end up in the standings but he is going to give fans a reason to smile this year. Expect more of this all season long from the Cubs’ newest rookie.

The Cubs made a couple of other big splashes this offseason as well. The other huge one was Marcus Stroman who made his first career start on Sunday in the same game that Suzuki had his first career home run. The Cubs lost the game but these two guys did their job.

If Suzuki (and the rest of his teammates) can play like that in every series, they could be a team that surprises people this year. They scored more runs on Milwaukee’s top three starters in this series than they did in all of 2021 so it is a really nice start. He and his 6 RBIs were a big part of that.

They are off on Monday but are back in action on Tuesday when they hit the road to play the Pittsburgh Pirates. That is an awful team so this is a nice opportunity for them to continue playing well in the early stages of the season. Suzuki’s big weekend was fun and it is going to be great to see him on the North Side all season long.
