The Chicago Bears need to address the linebacker position in the 2022 NFL Draft

The first position not many are talking about is at linebacker. The Bears have one sure fire starter on the roster with Roquan Smith, and that’s it.

Chicago signed former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Nicholas Morrow to come in and compete for a starting gig, and if he’s healthy, Morrow should win one of those jobs. He missed all of 2021 with a foot injury, though, which is a bit of a red flag.

Transitioning to a 4-3 defense means having the right personnel is key, and the Bears still need at least one starter there. Morrow may play the middle, and he may play outside. So, the Bears have a little flexibility here.

With having two second-round picks, the Bears could be in position to draft one of a couple different guys at this position, and they would come in and start right away.

Not every fan would be thrilled with a linebacker in the second round, but you better believe that the Bears would be a better team with someone like Wisconsin’s Leo Chenal or Oklahoma’s Brian Asamoah. Either one of these guys would be excellent pickups in the second or third round, and there are other candidates to be drafted there as well.

Wide receiver and offensive line are the desired positions in Round 2, but do not be surprised if the Bears take one of the top linebackers here.
