To round out there draft in the fifth round, the Bears go back to the cornerback position with LSU starter Cordale Flott.
Coming into the draft, the Bears were sitting in a tough spot with Jaylon Johnson, Thomas Graham Jr. and newly-signed slot cornerback Tavon Young. Other than those three, the Bears have zero depth. Now having drafted Taylor-Britt and adding Flott, the depth here looks much better.
Playing at a school like LSU, Flott went up against some stiff competition. Even though his counterpart, Derek Stingly Jr., took on the heftier assignments, Flott held his own.
Flott has a long, lanky frame which appeared to have needed a bit more mass added prior to his pro day. During that workout, Flott looked as though he did indeed a little mass, which was one of the main concerns about him transitioning to the NFL.
Although he may be a tad undersized, Flott doesn’t shy away from anybody. He is an effort guy, which is what Eberflus values in a player. Flott is a willing run supporter and works hard each and every snap in both aspects of the defense.
As a reserve, Flott is extremely valuable. But, who knows, he might battle it out with Taylor-Britt in camp and surprise us all.
