Chicago Bears trade David Montgomery in this 2022 mock draft
By Ryan Heckman
After surprisingly going defense with their first pick, the Bears get to work on the offensive side of the ball at pick no. 50, snagging a rising prospect out of North Dakota State. By now, most have heard at least a little bit about Christian Watson.
In case you haven’t been paying attention, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network recently listed Watson in the late first round of a mock draft. That’s how high he has been rising as of late, and the Bears would feel fortunate to get him at pick 50.
The 6-foot-4 Watson has everything you want in a number one outside target. He ran a 4.36 at the Combine, which is stunning for a man his size. His catch radius knows no bounds and he catches the ball with soft hands.
It took a while for Watson to rise, primarily because of his collegiate competition. Coming from a team like the Bison, Watson certainly beat up on all of his small school defensive competition. That’s what he’s supposed to do, after all.
Now, Watson comes into the NFL as someone who might turn out to be a steal of the draft. Had he played for a bigger school like Alabaman or Georgia, there’s no doubt he’d be a lock for the top-15.
