The Chicago Bears could take advantage of a muddy situation in Washington

Going back to the quarterback position, another franchise in the midst of a weird situation is the Washington Commanders. Earlier this offseason, Washington traded for Carson Wentz, making him their immediate starter. However, there is much doubt that Wentz will last in Washington. He’s seemed to wear out his welcome at his previous two destinations, so just how long will he last with the Commanders?

This is a situation where the Bears could come out with a haul, using that no. 39 overall selection. Again, this quarterback class is a tough one to project. But, in the second round, Washington could be targeting a guy who is one thing above all else: a winner.

Target: Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder

The Bears trade their no. 39 pick to Washington, which sees the Commanders select Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder. This is a great situation for Ridder, who gets to sit and learn for at least a year behind Wentz. This way, the Commanders know they have a future if Wentz doesn’t work out.

Ridder is pretty overlooked and underrated in this class, but he’s a dual-threat quarterback who is accustomed to winning. Maybe, in the near future, he becomes that franchise guy for Washington.

In exchange for that high second rounder, the Bears get pick no. 47, pick no. 113 and a fourth-round pick in 2023.
