The Chicago Bears could take advantage of the Arizona Cardinals losing a big piece

One of the biggest landscapes that changed in the NFL over the past few weeks is at the edge rusher position, and the Bears were a large part of that by trading Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Arizona Cardinals also lost one of the top edge rushers in the league when they saw free agent and All Pro Chandler Jones sign with the Las Vegas Raiders on an enormous contract.

Now, the Cardinals are left with J.J. Watt, who is oft-injured and can’t exactly be counted on. Arizona also has Devon Kennard and Markus Golden at outside linebacker. But, they could use another game-changing talent. In the second round, the Cardinals could see a player fall which they simply can’t pass on, and that’s where the Bears come in with their second pick in that round.

Target: Purdue EDGE George Karlaftis

This trade sees the Bears snag Arizona’s later pick in the second round, coming in seven picks later at no. 55 overall. Chicago also gets a valuable third rounder at no. 87. In exchange, Arizona gets the Bears’ no. 48 pick along with no. 186 in the sixth round.

With that 48th selection, Arizona selects Purdue edge rusher George Karlaftis. The Cardinals get an immediate impact player in Karlaftis, who plays with a high motor and 100 percent effort on each down. This is a guy who could grow and develop into a player that Arizona can use for years, while not being as regretful seeing Jones sign elsewhere.
