The Chicago Bears could take advantage of a quarterback-needy Atlanta Falcons team

This year’s draft class is not a normal one when it comes to the quarterback position. Last year, most would have guessed that the 2021 class included a good amount of potential franchise quarterbacks. This year, there is not one guy you can say that about. But, many of them have the ability to grow into a decent starter. However, the majority of them may need to sit a year.

In the second round, the Atlanta Falcons could be looking at the quarterback position and see a couple of them fall — as most would have guessed they will. A simple trade with the Bears could secure a guy they might feel comfortable with sitting behind Marcus Mariota for a little bit.

Target: Ole Miss QB Matt Corral

In this deal, the Bears move back just four spots in the second round, getting Atlanta’s no. 43 selection overall. But, they also get a fourth rounder from Atlanta, coming in at no. 114.

The Falcons take the 39th pick and select Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral, who is looked at as maybe the best pocket passer of the group this year. Now, the Falcons have a guy in Mariota who is ready for his second chance as a starting quarterback. But, they also have someone in their back pocket who is ready to be developed and potentially jump into a starting role next year.

The Bears, meanwhile, will be looking at many of the same targets they had just four picks earlier. They likely don’t miss out on an equally-talented player at pick no. 43 here.
