The top three in the Chicago Cubs order are going to do some damage.

1. Nick Madrigal – 2B

The Chicago Cubs did a good job with the trade deadline in 2021. They landed some really good prospects to try and develop which is always what you want to do when you retool a roster. However, one trade that they made landed them a good MLB player.

When they send Craig Kimbrel to the Chicago White Sox, Nick Madrigal was one of two players (Codi Heuer) that came back in return. He is going to be the perfect slap-hitting leadoff man for the Cubs in 2022 which should always set the tone well. He will have a high average which should help the sluggers that follow him.

2. Seiya Suzuki – RF

The Cubs won the Seiya Suziki sweepstakes over the offseason and now the slugger calls the north side of Chicago his home. We don’t know how he is going to translate his game to Major League Baseball in North America but spring training was a good sign.

He might prove to be more suitable for another spot in the lineup but batting second feels perfect for him heading into 2022. He will be well protected in this lineup for the beginning part of the season while they see if this spot works for him.

3. Willson Contreras – C

We will see if Willson Contreras is on the Cubs when the season ends as his contract ends after the year is over. While he is with the Cubs, however, he is the perfect number three-hitter for them as he is often clutch with his power.

It is going to see what he is able to do for them as the true leader of the team this year. Hopefully, they go the route of the extension for one of the team’s best players. Everything that they do going forward hinges on the decision that he (and the Cubs) make on his future.
