Chicago Bears wheel and deal, add 12 players in this 2022 mock draft
By Todd Welter
Having extra picks allows the Chicago Bears to address their biggest need position again which is wide receiver.
Austin Jr. checks the boxes of being a big, fast receiver that is needed in Luke Getsy’s offense. Standing at 6’2″ and 200 pounds, Austin Jr. ran a 4.43 40-yard dash and posted a 39 inch vertical leap at the NFL Combine.
Injuries and suspension limited him to just 54 career catches in South Bend. He had 48 of his catches last season for 888 yards and seven touchdowns. He had a great second half to the 2021 season and posted six catches for 105 yards and touchdown against Oklahoma State in his final game for the Irish.
He is raw with his lack of game experience but he has tremendous athleticism.
This would be a good gamble pick for the Bears because if he reaches his high potential, it would be another big playmaker for Fields to use on Sunday.
The Chicago Bears end the draft by adding more depth at defensive tackle by taking Peevy in the sixth-round.
Peevy was productive during his time at Texas A&M. He likes to model his game after DeForest Buckner, a player Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is very familiar with.
NFL.com thinks he has the traits to be in a defensive tackle rotation.
One scouting reporting is really high on Peevy. Bleacher Report’s write believe Peevy has the talent to be a day-two pick. Peevy has the ability to play the three-technique tackle. With his potential, he could end up being one of the steals in the draft.
