The Bears would end up owning the very next pick in the draft thanks to yet another trade. In this deal, Poles rids the team of Eddie Jackson’s contract and diminishing play. Maybe, under Robert Saleh, Jackson uses a fresh start to revitalize his career.

In this deal, the New York Jets send the Bears their no. 111 selection in exchange for Jackson. With that pick, the Bears select Western Kentucky edge rusher Deangelo Malone.

The Bears traded Khalil Mack but still have Robert Quinn and Trevis Gipson at defensive end. Al-Quadin Muhammad will play there, too, after being newly-signed. The Bears are able to get a nice four-man rotation, though, by drafting Malone.

The fifth-year senior is an ultra-productive pass rusher who is fun to watch, to say the least. He doesn’t have a true style of pass rushing, and that’s what makes him exciting. Malone has an unpredictable style and that is what makes him difficult to game-plan for.

Malone stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 243 pounds, but plays far bigger than his listed size. He’s strangely powerful for a guy his size and would offer the Bears an excellent rotational pass rusher. Over his five years (four as a starter) Malone has tallied 32.5 sacks and 59.0 tackles for loss.
