Though the Bears will be taking him a little later than Moore, Christian Watson is going to end up being the stud of this draft class for Chicago. At pick 58, the Bears snag the North Dakota State product who continues to rise throughout this draft process.

But, how did we get here? The Bears dealt their no. 48 pick to Atlanta, along with no. 148, in exchange for the 58th overall pick as well as a third-round selection coming in at no. 82 — another huge value trade for Poles and the Bears.

Watson has done exactly what he’s supposed to do coming from a smaller program, and that is to dominate his competition and obliterate the pre-draft process. At 6-foot-4, Watson shouldn’t be able to run a 4.36, but here we are. His speed is off the charts for his size, and his overall athletic profile offers a team everything they could possibly want in a legitimate number one, outside threat.

Coming out of college, the biggest question is whether or not Watson’s game will translate after beating up on lesser competition. Everything he has shown us has given zero questions as to whether he can do it or not. Watson brings great hands, long speed and a huge catch radius to the table. What more could the Bears want as a potential no. 1 option?

Pairing Watson with Moore, Darnell Mooney and Byron Pringle give Fields some legitimate weapons in this new offense and allows fans to fully move past losing Allen Robinson.
