With their final pick in the draft, the Bears go back to maybe the best school they could draft from in Alabama. Anytime you can get a former Crimson Tide player in the seventh round, that’s usually excellent value.

The Bears traded Khalil Mack this offseason and then signed Al-Quadin Muhammad to come in and replace him, but could use some depth as Trevis Gipson is the next man up. Adding Bama’s LaBryan Ray could help bolster the position.

Ray comes to the NFL as a guy who could play either defensive end or even defensive tackle, depending how teams view him. He’s 6-foot-4, weighing 284 pounds and possessing a strong frame, overall. He’s got size for the league, but the biggest question is his history of lower body injuries.

Ray is best in run support, but has not flashed the pass rushing prowess teams like to see off the edge. If he proves to be healthy, Ray could be an end-of-roster type player with potential to be a rotational guy if he improves his pass-rushing skills.
